Cecily strong

  Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8, 1984) is an American actress, comedian, producer, and singer. Strong is most well-known because she was a Saturday Night Live cast member between 2012 and 2022. Strong has the longest tenure of a female character in the history of the show. Strong was recruited for SNL during improv classes in The Second City in Chicago which is where she relocated after she graduated from CalArts. She is the present host of the Apple TV+ musical comedy program Schmigadoon! (2021-present), which she also co-produces.



 



 She also voiced The Awesomes (2013 to 2015) and has supporting roles in films such as Ghostbusters and The Meddler. In 2015 she hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner. In 2021, her first book The Memoir This Will All be Over Soon Soon, was released.



 



 For her role in Saturday Night Live, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 72nd and the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.



 



 Early life



 Strong was born and was raised in Springfield, Illinois. She is the daughter of Penelope Strong and William "Bill", who both served as Associated Press bureau chiefs and, as of 2013, operated their own PR company. Penny Legler Strong has extensive knowledge of nursing and has worked in several local hospitals. Strong was the child of divorced parents. Strong was fascinated by SNL from an early age. She enjoyed reenacting sketches with a friend as well as watching the old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had a collection of the greatest commercials, and I wore it every day." She said that Phil Hartman was her idol.
